Project "Europe's houses"

In 2002 on the 17th of April an educational game was taking place in Liubertienes School. It was a combined project of the school and  "Europe's houses".
The game was organised by the school teachers who helped students to prepare for the game.
The game was presented by the director of "Europe's Houses" Judita Akromiene and history teachers the representative of "Europe's Houses" Snieguole Matoniene.
The main aim of the game was to help students to understand how decisions are made in the EU. Students from the 9-11 forms were taking place in the game. Divided into the groups of 2-3 people they represented the member countries of the EU as well as candidate countries. Before the game everyone was analysing what are the views of EU  member countries toward expansion of the EU, taking into account all the advantages and disadvantages. The candidate countries had to prove that they are ready to join the EU and answer numerous question from the 'journalists'. After all the attacking and defending speeches, the decisions had o be made which of the candidate countries would be joining the EU. Each member country had to vote "for", "against" or "neutral" (.....)  and had to elaborate on their decision. Afterwards there were non-official talks which lead to a final decision about the candidate countries. The majority of the students in Liebertienes School decide that only Hungary is ready to join the EU. Other candidates were short of one or two votes.
